Cindy Henson

Director (Consultant)

Ms. Henson is a management consultant who works closely with RSG on a variety of in-house organizational initiatives and external client engagements, including the RSG Academy. Ms. Henson is a dynamic leader and facilitator with 27 years of experience in designing and implementing consensus-building processes that foster innovative solutions among diverse groups. She has facilitated strategic planning and civic engagement processes for both public and private sector clients involving a diverse range of stakeholder interests, including residents, business owners, executive boards, city and county staffs, special districts, and special commissions and task forces. Past clients include the San Diego Unified School District, County of San Diego, City of Chula Vista, San Diego Community College District, Orange County LAFCO, AT&T, BAE Systems, CSC, SAIC, SDG&E, The Unity Center, and The Association for Community Housing Solutions.

In 2008, Ms. Henson successfully coordinated and facilitated an intensive public participation process initiated by the San Diego Unified School District (SDUSD) Board of Education to gain public input on a major bond measure for capital facilities improvements. This endeavor involved the design and facilitation of six working meetings of a 21-member "Ad Hoc Task Force on the Bond" comprised of community members, business leaders, parents, school site representatives, and special interest groups. Through the process, the Task Force developed criteria and evaluated capital projects to be included in the November ballot measure. All planning, data preparation, and coordination of Task Force meetings were led by Ms. Henson, working with school board members, teachers, parents, and staff. Proposition S received 68.49% voter approval on November 4, 2008, authorizing a $2.1 billion bond. All task force work is available for viewing at www.sandi.net/board/committees/adhocbond/.

Ms. Henson also provides ongoing strategic advisory services to The Association for Community Housing Solutions (TACHS), a nonprofit organization in San Diego County whose core mission is to develop permanent supportive housing for San Diego County's homeless and special needs populations. Her services have included annual strategic planning sessions with TACHS's Board of Directors and the development of a five-year strategic plan.

Cindy enjoys working with leaders and organizations that are making a positive difference in the world. She works with nonprofits, government agencies, and triple bottom line companies (with a focus on profit and people and planet) to hone their business and organizational skills to take advantage of their natural talents.
