About 1,200 people attended the 2015 Housing California conference this year.
The affordable housing conference offered 75 diverse workshops for advocates, builders, lenders, consumers and lawmakers. Topics included: property management/asset management, sustainable homes and communities, tenant action and community organizing, multifamily home finance and homelessness. Keynote speakers were Kent Larson from the MIT Media Laboratory and Assemblymember David Chiu, the author of AB 35.
Jim Draughon and I spoke at a workshop called “Are You In Compliance? Compliance Monitoring for Multiple-Funded Affordable Housing Projects.” We provided an overview of affordable housing monitoring, described case studies in public agency and development monitoring and operating review audits and outlined new regulatory requirements created by Senate Bill 341. Clearly, many cities are overwhelmed with their affordable housing compliance obligations. If this is your city’s experience, contact us at RSG and learn how we can help.
