Urban Gardens Grow More Than You Think

Although large-scale agriculture is a key part of the California economy, urban farming and gardens are booming in California communities. Our Mediterranean climate allows for year-round production, and local governments are gathering behind the urban farming movement.

In addition to providing the option for more local food sources and eating in season, the benefits of urban gardens are more than just nutritional. These spaces educate and encourage collaboration among the community and their caretakers. Urban gardens add greenery to cities. They combat the effects of heat islands. They encourage entrepreneurship, the creative use of urban space, and sustainability.

As a committed community citizen, RSG is inspired by the opportunities for economic growth and community health in urban farming.
