RSG has been busy this year attending conferences and presenting various workshops. We had an amazing time engaging with colleagues and clients at the annual Housing California Conference, annual League of California Cities Conference and annual SCANPH conference. SCANPH was made even more memorable by the nomination of RSG Principal & Vice President, Tara Matthews as Staff Member of the Year. Tara was recognized for the impact she makes on both her staff and our client’s communities through the services she provides here at RSG. We are extremely lucky to have Tara as a part of the leadership here at RSG and are so proud of her nomination.

In addition to the numerous conferences we attended, RSG also had the opportunity to take part in various trainings and workshops, imparting our knowledge on those eager to hear it. Some of these highlights include hosting the third installment of our Compliance Monitoring Workshop series at our headquarters located in Irvine this past March. This workshop provided attendees with information on performing tenant income certifications. RSG Principal and President, Jim Simon, gave a presentation at CALED on Business Retention and Expansion in August and then once more in October where he co-presented with RSG Analyst, Irlanda Martinez on the Keys to Local Economic Development.

With the passing of new legislation that took place this year, RSG identified a need to help our clients and colleagues navigate the changes this would mean for cities and counties throughout the state. RSG provided that solution in the form of housing legislation workshops. We had the opportunity to partner with legal firm Rutan & Tucker, LLP, hosting once at our headquarters in Irvine and once in the City of La Quinta. We also had the opportunity to partner with legal firm Goldfarb & Lipman, LLP, in November of this year where we hosted a housing legislation workshop in Oakland. These workshops provided an opportunity for RSG to connect with our clients, providing them valuable insight on what the new legislation might have in store for them.
