Just a quick reminder that the SB 2 Planning Grant Application date of November 30th is just around the corner. The minimum award amount is $25,000 but based on the size of your jurisdiction, you may be eligible to receive a maximum award amount of $625,000. In order to qualify you need to meet the following requirements:

Have an HCD-compliant housing element.

Have submitted a recent Annual Progress report.

Demonstrate a nexus to accelerating housing production – Applicants proposing activities in one of the Priority Policy Areas are automatically deemed to demonstrate a nexus to accelerating housing production.

Demonstrate that the applicant is consistent with State Planning Priorities (Government Code Section 65041.1) or other planning priorities.
Grant funding can be used for activities like:

Updates to general plans, community plans, specific plans, local planning related to implementation of sustainable community strategies or local coastal plans.

Updates to zoning ordinances.

Environmental analyses that eliminate the need for project-specific review.
-
Local process improvements that expedite local planning and permitting.

Pre-approved architectural and site plans (including plans for accessory dwelling units)
