Welcome to another episode of RSG’s Employee Spotlight! Dena Fuentes, Director at RSG, is thankful to have had her vocation and avocation align for over 35 years working for the public sector. Dena was the Deputy Executive Officer (retired) of the Community Development and Housing Agency for San Bernardino County which included the oversight of the Housing Authority of the County of San Bernardino, the Office of Homeless Services, and the Community Development and Housing Department. While in the public sector, RSG was one of Dena’s consultants! And when she left, she knew she wanted to work with RSG to use her experience and relationships to assist public jurisdictions in their endeavors of providing quality services to their communities.

Dena revels in engaging with her clients and providing to RSG a public sector perspective in our approach to client needs. She shared that her recent work with a city’s Environmental Protection Agency grant has been a lot of fun and presses her to utilize her own experience working on Brownfields and applying this experience in assisting the client to ultimately develop and implement their economic and community revitalization efforts.

“I cherish working with city personnel to move their efforts forward. I enjoy the assignments at RSG and my coworkers, and I truly appreciate our company culture of teamwork, mentoring, and collaboration. Being a collaborative facilitator and problem solver to achieve community results inspires who I am and what I am about.”

Dena and her husband enjoy going to Dodger games and Disneyland. They have started traveling more and try to visit Maui annually, which is one of Dena’s favorite spots. They have a great group of friends they spend time with having fun and love their dog, Besos, who is a sweet soul and brings smiles to their faces every day.

We admire Dena’s long-standing passion for providing opportunity to all residents of the communities she works with by leading efforts to finance and build needed community resources — you inspire us all!
